Pregnancy Urine Strip Test
Test Description
This test is a visual immunoassay for the qualitative, presumptive detection of human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) in human urine specimens
HCG is a hormone produced by the placenta, which is an indicator of pregnancy. The test is 99% accurate and provides results in less than 20 minutes.
Indications of the Test
This test is intended for use as an aid in the early detection or confirmation of pregnancy
Patient Preparation/Instructions
- Bring the test to room temperature before use
- Remove the test from its sealed pouch and use it as soon as possible
- Dip the test strip in the urine specimen for at least 10-15 seconds, without immersing past the maximum line (MAX) on the test strip
- After the test has finished running, remove the strip from the specimen and place it on a non-absorbent flat surface
- Start the timer and wait for the colored band(s) to appear. The result should be read at 3 minutes
Typical Reference Values
The test detects human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) levels as low as 25mIU/mL in urine.
